The landscaped grounds are terraced and weave intricately down to the 9 x 5 m kidney shaped swimming pool.
The two fishponds and the water feature provide a superb backdrop for al fresco dining. Whether you are enjoying a barbecue
in one of the sheltered seating areas or are watching the sun set on another fabulous day in the sun, everything you
need is here. By night, the artfully placed lighting changes the atmosphere once again, encasing you in your own world as
you unwind with a glass of wine and look forward to another stress-free relaxing day in one of the most natural and beautiful
areas of rural France.
Only an hour or so from the cosmpolitan yachting centres of Il de Re and La Rochelle ...
and just up the road from fabulous Poitiers and Niort: all you require in shopping, entertainment and restaurants are within
easy reach via the unspoiled and rural French countryside ...
Bagnault is centred on the old route of the pilgrimage
to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and was thus a major overnight stopover point for the travellers. The fountains which
still abound in the village -- and are clearly signposted -- were built to sustain the travellers on their journey down
through France. The Knights Templar were active in the region guarding the pilgrims against bandits and thieves and
ensuring their safety on this leg of their journey to Spain. Many of the buildings in the village originate from the hostels
in which the pilgrims stayed overnight.
